This small panel was inspired by a stylised drawing of a Shield Bug.

Using traditional goldwork techniques, and a variety of copper metallic threads, this design may be worked on a background of grey silk dupion, or the fabric of your choice. The Shield Bug is surrounded by an ornate border, featuring small squares filled with an assortment of metallic threads, copper and bronze leathers, beads and sequins, all worked with a variety of techniques. Many of these threads, sourced from my collection of vintage metal threads, are tarnished - which for me, adds to their appeal. As there is a limited quantity of vintage threads, new, untarnished threads will be offered.

This panel may be framed, or inserted into the cover of a book or box.

This class is suitable for Intermediate – experienced stitchers.
