This small circular panel was inspired by a Japanese family crest of a stylised grapevine. Worked over a lattice of gold metallic thread, this design features bunches of beaded grapes, wrapped-wire vines and tendrils, and embroidered surface and detached leaves. A tiny ladybird, with raised wings, nestles in the lower corner of the lattice. Using traditional stumpwork and surface embroidery techniques, and a variety of silk and metallic threads, this piece may be worked on dark cream silk dupion, or the fabric of your choice The finished embroidery may be framed or made into a brooch.
This class is suitable for all.
