Bright yellow button-like flowers worked in French knots, and a damselfly with detached gauzy wings and a raised beaded abdomen. The piece may be framed or made into the lid of a box.

35 years ago I walked into a book store and spotted my very first stumpwork book. It was Jane's Stumpwork Embroidery A Collection of Fruits, Flowers and Insects. I fell in love with the images and immediately dashed out to get embroidery supplies and have a go. I made a grape cluster and a hedgehog and was hooked for life. I have found a number of stumpwork artists since that day but Jane remains my favourite. My mission is to collect all her books (2 to go), and kits (working on it), for retirement projects. This is another one off the list! Being small, it is handy to pack when I travel.
