Inspired by Turkish enamelled wall-tiles, this small ornate embroidery features the tulips and colours so beloved by the Ottomans.  Combining stumpwork, goldwork and surface embroidery techniques, this panel is worked on an ivory satin background with silks, gold metallic threads, beads and tiny spangles.  Embroidered in the characteristic palette of rich coral orange (known as "Armenian bole"), colbalt blue and dark sage green, the design features tulips with detached petals, and beaded prunus blossoms, all enclosed in a stylised palmette border.
