Embroidery Hoops

As it is worked with two or more layers of fabric and with such a diversity of materials, and because it cannot be washed or 'blocked', stumpwork has to be worked and kept very taut in a frame until the completion of the embroidery.

As the fabric will not be removed until the end and the edges are likely to become a little marked, the frame has to be larger than the finished design and border.

Buy the best quality hoop you can find, preferably a birchwood frame, which has a screw that you can tighten with a screwdriver.
